Insert 538 values of “DVD” or “VHS” as appropriate, and ensure that the 538 is the first note field in the record. Marc code 500 will be used for compact disc sound recordings.

Proper values will be used in the 300 Physical Description field.

Rely on consistent use of the 538 and of genre headings to allow searches for “DVD”, “VHS”, “Audiobooks”, “Large type books”, etc.
