Greetings,

As some of you may already know, Serials Solutions is continuously enhancing their Summon product with releases coming out every three weeks. Many more changes are coming soon and will be packaged with their new Summon 2.0 platform and interface with an initial release in August.

Below is more information on some of the changes, a preview link you can use, and links to upcoming webinars. I encourage any library staff who uses Summon to attend one. The webinars are hosted by Andrew Nagy, Senior Project Manager for Summon and include a Q&A session. There will also be upcoming sessions that will be Q&A only if you have questions beyond what is being provided.

Information below from SerSol regarding Summon 2.0…

We are excited to share with you the first preview of the new Summon 2.0 interface!  You can access the dedicated preview site for your library at
(where “yourlibrary” name is the same as the URL prefix of your current Summon site).
As a reminder, the new Summon 2.0 interface and features are being made available to all customers in a preview environment so that you can thoroughly review the features prior to making the new interface the default for your users.  While this is an early  preview and we still have much work to do on the new interface and additional features coming soon, we hope that you will take this opportunity to begin familiarizing yourselves with the new layout and functionality as early as possible.
The preview period will be in effect through January 2014 and you will continue to see enhancements to the Summon service every 3 weeks.  When your library is ready to activate the new Summon 2.0 interface, simply contact our Support team to “opt in” and the new interface will become your new default interface.  There will be no Summon 2.0 related changes to your current Summon service until your library chooses to opt in.   The earliest date that a library can opt to “go live” with the Summon 2.0 interface will be after our next release – currently scheduled for July 31.

Summon 2.0 Webinars
To better help prepare you for launching new Summon 2.0 interface for your users by the start of the new school year, we will be conducting a series of webinars to help answer any questions you might currently have about the new Summon 2.0 features and functionality. There are 2 different sets of webinars: a “guided tour and overview” of the Summon 2.0 interface and features and Q&A sessions with our Summon Product Managers – “Launching Summon 2.0 at Your Library”
In addition, you can begin reviewing our Support Center documentation regarding Summon 2.0 enhancements: Summon 2.0 FAQ
We are also going to be providing a Summon 2.0 “marketing kit” that will include some slides, guides and documentation that you can use to help educate your staff and users.  Some of these materials will enable you to add your own branding so that you can readily have documentation available for your users.
We hope you are as excited about the upcoming Summon 2.0 innovations as we are and we look forward to getting your feedback.   Stay tuned for further information on what you will see with our next preview release currently scheduled for the end of July.
