See <strong>Title-holding <\/strong>and <strong>Title-set<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h2>Local Protected category<\/h2>\n<p>Local protection rules are for categories of materials which MSCS libraries want to protect because they relate to subjects\/authors of particular interest in Maine. See <strong>Committed To Retain<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h2>OCLC Shared Print Symbol<\/h2>\n<p>Separate OCLC Institution Symbol used to identify print archived titles.<\/p>\n<h2>Shared Print<\/h2>\n<p>A collaborative effort to coordinate the long-term retention of print materials (including both monographs and journals). It is characterized by an explicit commitment to retain materials for a specific period of time.<\/p>\n<h2>Sustainable Collection Services<\/h2>\n<p>The vendor MSCS have contracted with to deliver collections analysis services (<a title=\"SCS Homepage\" href=\"http:\/\/sustainablecollections.com\/weed-feed\/\">http:\/\/sustainablecollections.com<\/a>\/).<\/p>\n<h2>Title-Holding<\/h2>\n<p>The combined holdings\u00a0(which means multiple copies\/items at some libraries) of one library of a particular \u2018Title set\u2019. See <strong>Item\/copy<\/strong> and <strong>Title-set<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h2>Title-Set<\/h2>\n<p>Specific edition of a monograph for example,<i> California in the New Millennium: The Changing Social and Political Landscape<\/i>. Publication Year 2000\u00a0 (Paperback version 2002). See <strong>Item\/copy<\/strong> and <strong>Title-holding<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h2>Government Document<\/h2>\n<p>For purposes of the project, Government Documents were considered out of scope and where identified by SCS by the following criteria:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>074 &#8211; GPO item number not null<br \/>\n086 &#8211; Gov document classification number not null<br \/>\n040 &#8211; cataloguing source had GPO<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h2>Serials<\/h2>\n<p>For purposes of list creation for review of serials, the following criteria were used:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Leader position 07 (bib level) = s (serial)<br \/>\nLeader position 06 (type of record) = a (language material)<br \/>\nNot electronic (usually determined by location code)<br \/>\nNot suppressed<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Records were further evaluated before loading into the Serials database to exclude Microforms (based on location) and Government Documents (based on position 21 of the 008 &#8211; approx 15% of series titles)<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Committed To Retain Category of material which have met the MSCS retention criteria.
